Purpose: to study modern problems of prevention of oncodermatological pathology in Ukraine.
Materials and Methods. The research materials were data from a questionnaire survey of doctors (dermatovenerologists, oncologists, oncological surgeons), general practitioners/family medicine and public health specialists, as well as patients (skin cancer patients and non-neoplastic skin diseases. The work used bibliographic, medical - statistical and analytical methods.
Results. Insufficient awareness of patients in the prevention of skin cancer was established, in particular, in relation to risk factors for the occurrence of the disease and measures to reduce the incidence of skin cancer. The sources of patients' information were established, the assessment of its importance and the assessment of satisfaction with the received information were analyzed. Insufficient understanding on the part of family doctors regarding their participation in the early detection of skin cancer and preventive work among the population was revealed. The needs of general practice/family medicine physicians regarding skin cancer prevention have been identified. The need for the participation of public health specialists in informational and educational activities is substantiated.
Conclusions. The identified problems related to the prevention of skin cancer can become the basis for improving existing population prevention strategies. Solving these problems requires a multidisciplinary approach involving family physicians. Public health specialists, who must not only be sufficiently knowledgeable about prevention issues, but also possess communication and advocacy skills, will contribute to the implementation of these tasks.
