Abstract

Purpose: to assess the ecological state of the Seret River by studying the physico-chemical indicators of the reservoir, biogenic substances and comparing them with literature data on the development of phytoplankton, in particular blue-green algae of the reservoir.

Materials and Methods: theoretical (study of scientific and popular scientific literature on the subject under study), mathematical methods of study of the obtained results, methods of analysis of the obtained research results of the scientific laboratory of the Ternopil National Pedagogical University named after V. Hnatyuk.

Results. The conducted studies established that the concentration of phosphates in the rivers of the Ternopil region, and in particular, the Seret River, ranged from the minimum value in September (0.021 mg/dm³) to the maximum in August (0.046 mg/dm³), which did not exceed the concentration limit. In order to improve the ecological situation of the region, additional distribution of aquatic plants as biological filters along the rivers and in the coastal zone with their further utilization is proposed. We established that, Nuphar lutea (L.) Sm. accumulates iron and zinc the most, Sagittaria sagittifolia L. – cobalt, nickel, Ceratophyllum demersum L. – manganese, Ranunculus circinatus Sibth. – plumbum.

Conclusions. The ecological state and anthropogenic influence of man on the reservoirs of the Ternopil Region were analyzed, and the main ways of pollution of the Seret River and the Ternopil Pond were highlighted. The issue of pollution of water bodies by biogenic substances, in particular phosphates, is highlighted. It was experimentally established that the content of phosphates in the Seret River does not exceed the maximum permissible concentration level, as well as in other rivers of the Ternopil Region.
