Purpose: to analyse Ukrainian demographical processes and prevalence of diabetes mellitus.
Materials and Methods. Research methods: systemic approach, medical-statistical, bibliographic, content analysis, structural-logical analysis. We used statistical data from the Centre for Medical Statistics of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and IDF.
Results. Demographic trends indicate an increase in population mortality in 2019–2021. The structure of mortality has changed due to COVID-19, identified as the third most common cause of death. There was a trend of increasing mortality of the population from diseases of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. Factors of adverse consequences of COVID-19 are age (over 61 years), male gender, and the presence of diabetes. Screening for the presence of diabetes in patients is a priority, which is especially relevant in Ukraine in modern conditions.
Conclusion. The paper is devoted to analysis of the recent Ukrainian demographical trends in the focus of COVID-19 and diabetic pandemics.
