Purpose: to analyze the dynamics of primary disability rates after musculoskeletal injuries and the individual rehabilitation programs effectiveness in Ukraine and Ivano-Frankivsk region.
Materials and Methods. Primary disability rates and efficacy of individual rehabilitation programs in Ukraine and Ivano-Frankivsk region during 2011–2020 were analyzed according to official data.
Results. Primary disability rates due to external causes during 2011–2020 had a downward trend in Ukraine (percent change -33.4 % among adults and -22.7 % – among workable persons) and in the Ivano-Frankivsk region (-16.7 % and -17.7 %, respectively).
Distribution by severity of disability over the last decade has not changed in Ukraine as a whole (7.3–7.2 % of the first, 29.5–28.1 % of the second and 63.2–64.7 % of the third group) and characterized by an increase in the share of the third group in Ivano-Frankivsk region (from 66.4 to 72.3 %), decrease in the share of the second one (from 27.5 to 18.7 %) and a slight increase in the first group (from 6.1 up to 9.0 %) at the same time.
It was found that during the re-examination the absolute majority was recognized again as persons with disabilities and their share in 2011–2020 had an upward trend (from 97.5 to 98.5 % in Ukraine and from 96.0 to 99.7 % in Ivano-Frankivsk region). At the same time, the share of those with severe disabilities decreased from 7.7 % to 3.7 % and the rate of full implementation of individual rehabilitation programs decreased (from 24.1 to 1.9 %), the levels of which are significantly lower, than the average in Ukraine (40.8–44.0 %).
Conclusions. It is necessary to improve the system of rehabilitation after musculoskeletal injuries at the regional level.
