WAYS TO INTEGRATE OBSTETRIC AND GYNECOLOGICAL CARE INTO THE PRIMARY LEVEL

Purpose: to develop and present the conceptual approaches to the integration of obstetric and gynecological care into the primary level of its provision.
Materials and Methods. The following methods were applied in the course of research: bibliosemantic, of structural-and-logical analysis, of descriptive modeling. Systematic approach became the methodical base of research.
Results. In the paper the cluster model of the integration of obstetric and gynecological care to the primary level is presented. It includes acquiring of necessary competencies by family doctors and continuous increase of professional skills, material and technical providing of family outpatient clinics and communication with the population.
Based on the cluster model of integration of medical obstetric-gynecological care to the primary level the model of obstetric and gynecological care at the primary level was developed. The model has two components: gynecological and obstetric medical care. This division is due to the fact that each of them needs different competencies of both family doctors and family nurses.
The central element of the model are women who need obstetric and gynecological medical care of preventive, diagnostic and curative directions.
The gynecological component of the model involves providing a high level of gynecological and reproductive health, and the obstetric component involves a set of measures that are related to family planning and birth of a healthy child.
Implementation of this model can be phased out. Stage and timing may be different in different areas. They are related to the timing of theoretical and practical training of family doctors and family nurses to perform one or the other functions in different sections of obstetric and gynecological care and to prepare a resource base for family outpatient clinics.
Conclusions. The integration of obstetric and gynecological care to the primary level will enhance its availability and efficiency.
