Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; Times New Roman font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

For the print version of the author guidelines, 

International Journal of Medicine and Medical Research is an Open Access, peer-reviewed international journal, which is published semiannually in English only.

Publication fees

International Journal of Medicine and Medical Research does not charge publication fees. It is fully covered by I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University. Authors are not required to pay any publication charges.

Types and Size of Articles Published in IJMMR

 IJMMR publishes the following types of articles:

- Editorials

- Research reports (Basic Medical, Clinical and Public Health Sciences)

- Case reports (clinical observations)

- Systematic reviews (Basic Medical, Clinical and Public Health Sciences)

- Commentaries

- Letters to the Editor

 Editorials are commissioned by the Editor. Word count: up to 1500 words excluding references. References: up to 10.

 Research Reports submitted by authors and describing results of original research in the field of Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences or Public Health Sciences. Word count: abstract up to 250 words, the main text of the article up to 3500 words excluding references, tables, and illustrations. Tables/Illustrations: up to 6. References: up to 30.

 Systematic Reviews submitted by authors and addressing currently relevant problems and concepts in the field of Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences or Public Health Sciences. Word count: abstract up to 250 words, the main text of the article up to 3000 words excluding references, tables, and illustrations. Tables/Illustrations: up to 6. References: up to 40.

 Case Reports submitted by authors and describing interesting observations relevant to diagnostics, clinical presentation, and therapeutic issues. Word count: up to 2000 words excluding references, tables, and illustrations. Tables/Illustrations: up to 3. References: up to 15.

 Commentaries are commissioned by the Editor. Word count: up to 600. References: up to 10.

 Letters to the Editor submitted by the authors and usually but not exclusively commenting on the issues related to the articles published in IJMMR. Word count: up to 400. References: up to 5.

  Submission and Formatting of Articles

 All manuscripts must be written in concise English (British or American styles and spelling) and submitted online in .doc format through IJMMR editorial system at http://ojs.tdmu.edu.ua.  Submission is coached by onscreen instructions. Technical support is available by email at ijmmr@tdmu.edu.ua. All manuscripts should be double-spaced in Times New Roman Font (size: 12).

 Manuscripts should be sent with the Cover Letter (a separate file in .doc format). The cover letter must be signed by the corresponding author and (a) attest that the manuscript is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, (b) information about the contributions of each person named as author/co-author of the paper, c) disclose potential conflicts of interest. Information regarding financial support (grants, contracts, etc.) should be mentioned in acknowledgments, at the end of the main text.

 The title page, abstract, and keywords, main text, acknowledgments, and references should be included in one file (.doc format). Tables should be loaded in separate files, each on separate page (.doc format). Illustrations should be loaded in separate files, each on a separate page. All titles and legends of illustrations should be listed on a separate page (.doc format). Please in the title page indicate the Funding, Conflict of Interest and Authors Contributions.

 Research Reports, Systematic Reviews, Case Reports

 All manuscripts should be composed of (a) title page, (b) abstract and keywords, (c) main text and acknowledgments, (d) references, (e) tables/illustrations

 a) The title page should include the title of article and list of all authors (first name, middle name initial, last name, affiliation: name of the institution including town and country). Corresponding author and address for correspondence should be identified at the bottom of the title page as follows:

 b) Abstract and keywords should be written on a separate page in English and Ukrainian. The abstract should summarize the contents of the article and in Research Reports should be structured as follows:

Background / Вступ

Objective / Мета

Methods / Методи

Results / Результати

Conclusions / Висновки

Between 3 and 5 keywords should be selected using “Medical Subject Headings” (MeSH)

 c) The main text of Research Report must be divided into the following sections: Introduction (including objectives), Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgements

 The main text of Systematic Review should include an introduction (including objectives), review and conclusions.

 The main text of Case Report should include a description of the topic.

 d) References should follow Springer Vancouver Style (see examples below) and must be identified in the main text by Arabic numerals (eg. [1-3]), numbered in order of mention in the article. All author names are required when there are no more than six games and when there are more than six authors the first six names should be listed and followed by “et al.” Unpublished information can be mentioned in the text in parentheses.

 e) Tables and illustrations must be identified in the main text by Arabic numerals (eg. [Tab. 1] [Fig. 1]) and numbered in consecutive order as they are referred to in the article. Each table must have a  number and title (eg. Table 1. Age, weight, and height of children …) and a footnote, if necessary.

  Editorials, Commentaries, Letters to the Editor

 Editorials and Commentaries are commissioned by the Editor.

 Letters to the Editor do not have a specific format. The manuscript must identify the author and his affiliation as well as address for correspondence (postal address, phone number, e-mail). The editors reserve the right not to publish a submitted letter.
