Summary. Continuing education of nurses contributes to a significant improvement in the quality, accessibility and cost-effectiveness of health care.
The aim of the study – to investigate and make a comparative analysis of postgraduate education of nurses in Ukraine and Poland as components of personal educational pathway.
Materials and Methods. The regulatory and legal documentation on education in Ukraine and the European Union was analyzed.
Results. The article analyzes the legal framework of forms and methods of postgraduate education in Ukraine and the European Union. Particular attention is paid to the issues of informal education. The most common type of non-formal education for nurses will be a form of informal education: participation in professional meetings, seminars, scientific and practical conferences, symposia, congresses, exhibitions, simulation training, master classes, courses on mastering practical skills, internships in clinics in other countries, distance learning, including electronic through professional Internet resources.
The article provides a comparative analysis of postgraduate education of nurses in Ukraine and Poland as a basis for continuous professional development and career growth. The practical experience of postgraduate education in Poland demonstrates the positive effect of the formation of a personal educational portfolio of a healthcare worker, a structured approach to appointment to managerial positions depending on the availability of a bachelor's or master's degree. The introduction of this positive experience in Ukraine will increase the interest of nurses in mastering new practical skills, improving professional competencies, and obtaining higher education.
Conclusions. The introduction of informal education in the process of acquiring new competencies and improving the professional skills of junior specialists with medical education is a popular direction of the modern system of continuous professional development of health care professionals.
