Abstract

Smmary. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the leading medical and social problems of modern society due to high morbidity and its prevalence, frequent occurrence of complications. Studies of the factors of disease development: type 2 diabetes, sleep disorders, depression, cardiovascular disease, studying the cause, a comprehensive solution to the problem, the presence of which negatively affects the quality of life will improve the health of patients with type 2 diabetes.

The aim of the study – to analyze the literature on the impact of anxiety, depressive disorders on the development and progression of cardiovascular disease in patients with type 2 diabetes for early diagnosis and prevention.

Materials and Methods. The study uses literature and research data on the causes of diseases, including depression, type 2 diabetes, sleep disorders, cardiovascular disease, their relationship and interaction.

Results. Type 2 diabetes is the most common type of diabetes, accounting for about 90 % of all cases of diabetes. This disease is most often diagnosed in adults, but is increasingly observed in children and adolescents due to increased obesity, sedentary lifestyle, psycho-emotional overload, stress. Depression is a risk factor for diabetes and negatively affects its course, increasing the risk of complications. Patients with diabetes suffer from concomitant depression 2–3 times more often than without it. The prevalence of depressive disorders in patients with diabetes averages about 14 %. Approximately 80 % of patients with type 2 diabetes have hypertension. The main cause of death in patients with diabetes is acute cardiovascular disease, which kills 75 % of patients. According to clinical studies, 15–25 % of patients with coronary heart disease show symptoms of depression, which 3.7 times increases the adverse course of the disease. Data from foreign studies show that mortality from cardiovascular disease among people who sleep less than 4 hours a day is 36 % higher than those who sleep 4–8 hours, and the risk of stroke is 34 % higher. In patients who are prone to these diseases, who slept long enough, the risks were offset and significantly reduced.

Conclusions. The main cause of significant morbidity and mortality in diabetes mellitus with concomitant CVD can be considered the high prevalence of risk factors and the lack of a unified approach to combating them. By studying risk factors we get the opportunity to understand the impact of multifactorial nature in the development and complication of the disease. Research and analysis of the links between depressive disorders and the development of cardiovascular pathology will establish the level of influence of these factors on the development of type 2 diabetes.
