The aim of the work. To analyze the main areas of nursing care to servicemen and civilians in the area of the combat.
Materials and Methods. On the base of military-medical service of Military Medical Administration Security Service of Ukraine in Zakarpattia region the personal data of 30 ATO participants, 30 persons from resettled military territories and 20 persons who are close relatives of combatants, live and care for them, regarding the presence of post-traumatic stress (anxiety and depression) were performed. The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) was used.
Results and Discussion. The analysis of our data shows the prevalence of subclinically expressed depression among 56.7 % of ATO participants, clinically expressed depression in 23.3 % of veterans. At the same time, subclinically expressed depression was registered in 55.0 % of persons who are close to the military. The prevalence of clinically expressed depression among persons moved from the ATO zone is 16.6 % and subclinically expressed depression – 46.7% of the population. It was established that military personnel and veterans have a great deal of tension, fear of the unknown, feel that they can easily relax, often have a sudden panic sensation and very often – feel inner tension. The civilian population in the ATO zone is also characterized by a moderate level of anxiety, which is confirmed by the frequent feeling of fear that can happen, infrequent disturbing thoughts, frequent feelings of internal tension. Comparing the answers given to the statement in the block of questions concerning the level of depression, we can speak about the moderate level of depression in military personnel and mild – in the civilian population displaced from the ATO area.
Conclusions. Persons who were in the military service or were in the ATO area, their close relatives need psychological support when accessing medical facility of any type. Nurses need to be aware of the methods of providing emergency psychological care. It is recommended to include an elective course “Emergency Psychology” at the Master's level educational program for nurses.
