Abstract

The aim of the work. To investigate the risk of cardiovascular pathology depending on the duration of type 2 diabetes, body mass index (BMI), changes in lipidogram: high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low density lipoprotein (LDL), triglyceride (TG) level and blood pressure (BP).

Materials and Methods. We analyzed case histories of 30 patients with type 2 diabetes who were undergoing treatment at the Therapeutic Department of Ternopil Municipal Hospital No. 2”, determined BMI and evaluated their lipidogram. The survey included 18 men (60 %) and 12 women (40 %), aged 34 to 69 years, with a disease duration of 1 year to 21. Depending on the duration of the disease, hospital inpatients were divided into 3 groups: group 1 up to 5 years (n = 6), group 2 – 6 to 10 years (n = 16), group 3 – more than 11 years (n = 8).

Results and Discussion. Patients in the group 1 BMI was 26.5 (overweight). Patients in the group 2 – 33.99 (obesity degree 2). In the group 3 BMI was 28 (degree 1 obesity). Analysis of lipidogram indices in our patients revealed a significant increase in TG and a decrease in HDL in patients with the longest course of type II diabetes (group III), and a more pronounced increase in LDL was observed in patients with a duration of diabetes from 6 to 10 years. Analyzing the BP in patients, we found the highest figures for hypertension in patients in group III. Patients of group III showed marked changes in ECG, rhythm disturbance, conduction. A history of myocardial infarction was diagnosed in 2 patients of group III with ECG changes.

Conclusions. In patients with type II diabetes with a disease duration of 6 to 10 years, there is an increase in BMI (degree 2 obesity), an increase in LDL and high blood pressure. In patients with type 2 diabetes with a disease duration of more than 11 years, the TG level increases, the risk of complications from the cardiovascular system (according to ECG) increases.
