Requirements for article design
A manuscript should be written using Microsoft Word. The article’s volume is 6-30 pages. Font – Times New Roman, size 14, line spacing – 1.5, all margins – 2 cm, paragraph – 1.25 cm. Formatting paragraphs with intervals (spaces) or tabs is not allowed. Text fragments should be bolded (terminology, if necessary) and italicized (quotes from sources and literature). No hyphenation is in the text. Pages are not numbered.
Tables, figures, and supporting data should be sent as a separate file. File formats for figures and supporting data are jpg, tif, bmp, or pdf. For formulas, it is advisable to use Microsoft Equation. Photos should be contrasty, and drawings should be clear. Tables should have short titles and be numbered.
The article’s elements should be arranged as follows: UDC, authors’ initials and surnames in Ukrainian, full name of the institution in Ukrainian (in capital letters), article title in Ukrainian (in capital letters), abstract in Ukrainian (250-300 words), which should comprise such structural elements as introduction, research purpose, research methods, results and discussion, conclusions, keywords in Ukrainian (up to 8), introduction, research methods, results and discussion, conclusions, bibliography list, references list, authors’ initials and surnames in English, full name of the institution in English (in capital letters), article title in English (in capital letters), structured abstract in English (1800 characters), keywords in English (up to 8). The components of the abstract of review articles should include an introduction, research purpose, conclusions, and 1keywords in Ukrainian (up to 8).
Article text (description of original and experimental research) should consist of the following sections:
- problem statement in general and its connection with important scientific and practical tasks;
- analysis of recent research and publications that have initiated a solution to the problem concerned the author relies on; specification of the previously unsolved parts of the general problem the article is devoted to;
- purpose statement (task statement);
- presentation of base research with full justification of findings;
- conclusions and prospects for further research.
All measures (units of various quantities, digital data of clinical and laboratory studies) must comply with the International System of Units (SI) under the requirements of DSTU 3651-97 “Units of physical quantities”. The names of companies, reagents, and drugs should be given in the original transcription.
The description of experimental studies should mention the species, sex, number of animals, methods of anesthesia for manipulations involving pain, and the killing method. Humane treatment of animals during experiments is a prerequisite.
When referring to a publication in the text, its number should be indicated in the order of mention in square brackets.
It is essential to submit two versions of the bibliography list – a traditional one and an additional one for foreign databases (References). The former is designed following DSTU 8302:2015 “Information and documentation. Bibliographic reference. General provisions and compilation rules”. The latter – following APA (American Psychological Association), which duplicates the bibliography list but transliterates it. Source title (of journal, book, conference) is always italicized.
Prohibition to refer to the aggressor state’s scholarly papers
It is prohibited citing and including in the reference list russian-language contributions published in any country, incl. papers written in other languages but published in russia and belarus.
The editorial team corrects spelling, punctuation and stylistic errors, eliminates unnecessary illustrations, and shortens the text if necessary.
