LIFE QUALITY OF PATIENTS WITH PRIMARY OSTEOARTHRITIS IN COMORBIDITY WITH DISEASES ACCOMPANIED BY EXOCRINE PANCREATIC INSUFFICIENCY

SUMMARY. Osteoarthritis (OA) is a heterogeneous group of diseases of different etiology but with similar biological, morphological, and clinical manifestations and consequences. This disease affects all components of the joint, including the cartilage, subchondral bone, synovial membrane, ligaments, and muscles surrounding the joint. OA is a constantly progressive disease that seriously affects the quality of life, especially if this disease occurs under conditions of comorbidity with chronic diseases that are accompanied by exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI).
The aim – to analyze changes in quality of life indicators according to the scales of the SF-36 questionnaire in patients with primary OA under conditions of comorbidity with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (GI) accompanied by EPI.
Material and Methods. 304 patients with primary OA in comorbidity with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract accompanied by non-exacerbation EPI were examined. The comparison group consisted of 30 practically healthy individuals who did not have clinical, anamnestic, and instrumental signs of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and joints.
To assess the quality of life of patients with primary OA in comorbidity with diseases accompanied by EPI, the general questionnaire SF-36 was used.
Results. A statistically significant influence of comorbid gastroenterological pathology in primary OA on indicators of the physical and psychological health scales of the SF-36 questionnaire was established (р<0.05).
Conclusion. The post hoc analysis showed the following ranking of comorbid gastroenterological pathology accompanied by EPI in primary OA according to the level of physical and psychological health scales of the SF-36 questionnaire, starting from the lowest: T2DM > CP > chronic non-calculous cholecystitis and functional diseases of the gallbladder and biliary system > chronic gastroduodenitis (р<0.05).
