Purpose: to analyze the advantages, challenges and role of implementing electronic medical records (EMRs) in the management of healthcare institutions. To assess their impact on the quality of medical services, the efficiency of administrative processes and the integration of digital technologies into the healthcare system. Materials and methods. The methods of content analysis, comparative analysis of regulatory documents and systematization of scientific data were used. The main barriers were assessed, including technical and organizational. Results. The main advantages of EMRs have been identified, including improved access to medical information, reduced medical errors, increased efficiency of medical staff, and improved coordination between different levels of medical care. At the same time, key challenges have been identified: the need to protect personal data, high implementation costs, the need for training medical professionals, and cybersecurity risks. Conclusions. The implementation of EMRs is an important stage in the digital transformation of the healthcare system, which contributes to increasing the efficiency of medical services and optimizing management processes. Despite the presence of certain challenges, the benefits they provide significantly outweigh them. EMRs contribute to improving the quality of medical care, increasing the efficiency of management of healthcare institutions, and creating conditions for the development of modern medical technologies. However, for successful implementation, it is necessary to take into account both technical and organizational aspects, as well as ensure the appropriate level of cybersecurity and staff training. Comprehensive support for this process from the state, medical institutions, and patients is important in order to achieve maximum results.
