Abstract

Objective. Evaluate the factors that influence the improvement of the quality of pharmaceutical care in the dispensing of antiplatelet agents.

Materials and Methods. The materials of the study included data from the State Register of Medicinal Products of Ukraine, the State Formulary of Medicinal Products, current pharmacist protocols, the Compendium, as well as the range of antiplatelet medicinal products available in pharmacies.

The research methods included content analysis, sociological and marketing methods, systematization and comparative analysis, as well as generalization and graphical presentation of the research results.

Results and Discussion.  Here is a clear and academically appropriate English translation:

Within the framework of a study conducted on the basis of the surveyed pharmacies, the range of antiplatelet agents was analyzed and the level of pharmacists’ awareness (N = 51) regarding these medicinal products was assessed.

The obtained results made it possible to clearly identify the factors influencing the quality of pharmaceutical care during the dispensing of antiplatelet agents. Pharmacy staff noted that patients frequently sought detailed explanations about the mechanism of action, dosage, and possible side effects of antiplatelet drugs (73%). At the same time, an insufficient level of pharmacists’ awareness regarding adverse reactions to antiplatelet agents was identified (23%).

A sociological survey conducted among pharmacy employees demonstrated that a proportion of them (22%) experience difficulties when providing consultations during the dispensing of antiplatelet agents. These difficulties are not related to a lack of professional training, but rather to the need to update knowledge on the pharmacological characteristics of specific groups of antiplatelet drugs and the individual clinical features of patients that determine the specifics of their use.

A promising direction for further research is the analysis of the availability and effectiveness of continuing professional development programs, which would contribute to improving the quality of pharmaceutical care in the dispensing of antiplatelet agents.

Conclusions. To enhance the effectiveness of pharmaceutical counseling, it is advisable to update and adhere to pharmacist protocols regulating patient communication algorithms. Specifically, this includes the application of protocols during the dispensing of medications regardless of pathology, regular professional development of pharmacists, and the creation of accessible informational materials for patients. Implementing these measures will reduce the risk of adverse reactions and ensure rational use of medications.
