Abstract

Introduction. The communicative competence of a nurse is considered one of the key components of professional activity in the modern healthcare system. The patient with his individual needs, physical and psycho-emotional state is at the center of the medical process, therefore, effective interaction between medical personnel and the patient is a necessary condition for providing high-quality, safe and timely medical care. So, the development of the communicative competence of nurses is of particular relevance both in theoretical and practical aspects.

The aim of the study – to theoretically substantiate and analyze the communicative competence of a nurse as an important factor in ensuring the quality of medical care, as well as the definition of its components, role in professional activity and impact on the effectiveness of interaction with patients and medical personnel.

The main part. Communicative competence is defined as an integrative characteristic that includes knowledge of communication norms, mastery of verbal and non-verbal means, empathy and interpersonal interaction skills. Important components are active listening, establishing trust, the ability to empathize with communication and explain medical information in an accessible way. Non-verbal communication plays a significant role, which affects the emotional state of the patient. An adequate level of communication skills contributes to improving diagnostics, increasing adherence to treatment and reducing the risk of medical errors. At the same time, insufficient communication can cause distrust and conflicts. The need to develop communication skills in the process of professional training of nurses through training and practical teaching methods is emphasized.

Conclusions. Communicative competence is an important factor in the quality of medical care, affecting clinical outcomes and psychological comfort of patients. Its development should be a priority in the training of nurses and is the basis of a patient-centered health care system.
