Assessing the causal factors in the saliva of people at risk of caries can help in developing recommendations that meet the specific needs of the patient. At the same time, the question arises about the objectification of the results of the assessment of the crystal properties of saliva, which can be solved by applying instrumental methods. Aim. To identify the characteristics of saliva microcrystallization in schoolage and young people depending on the intensity of caries. Result. The study involved 27 people aged 9 to 44, including 23 males and 4 females. All subjects were divided into two groups according to age: 1 – children aged 9–16 (4 girls and 15 boys); 2–8 young men aged 18–44. The mineralizing potential of oral fluid was assessed by its microcrystallization. The caries intensity index was determined based on an examination of the subjects’ oral cavities by a dentist and using a panoramic X-ray image of the maxillofacial region. The mineralizing potential of oral fluid was lowest in schoolchildren with subcompensated (average) caries intensity, in schoolchildren with compensated caries intensity, the saliva microcrystallization index corresponded to a satisfactory level, and the highest level of saliva mineralization was found in young people with a subcompensated caries intensity index. The correlation analysis did not reveal any dependence between the mineralization index and the level of caries intensity in schoolchildren with subcompensated caries. A negative correlation was found between the indicators in young people, so the caries intensity index value of 9 has a negative correlation with a high saliva mineralization index (r = –0.6). A similar relationship was found in schoolchildren with compensated caries (r = –0.5). That is, higher saliva mineralization indices affect caries intensity indices.
