Abstract

SUMMARY. The article highlights the life path, scientific, organizational, and educational activities of the prominent Ukrainian epidemiologist and virologist Viktoriia I. Zadorozhna, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, and long-term head of the L. V. Hromashevskyi Institute of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases of the NAMS of Ukraine.
The paper presents the main stages of her professional development and her significant contribution
to the advancement of epidemiology, virology, immunoprophylaxis, and biological safety in Ukraine. Particular attention is paid to her role in the implementation of poliomyelitis eradication strategies, improvement of vaccination schedules, studies of emerging and re-emerging infections, and organization of scientific support during the COVID-19 pandemic. The article also outlines her participation in the development of national public health and biosafety regulations, her scientific and educational activities, international cooperation, and major scientific achievements.
