Abstract

SUMMARY. With the advent of combination ART, the incidence of Kaposi’s sarcoma (KS) has decreased significantly, but today it is still the most common type of cancer in people living with HIV. Cases of the development of this disease against the background of preserved immunity are quite rare, therefore they may be of scientific and practical interest. We present a clinical case of Kaposi’s sarcoma in a man, 41 years old, an injection drug user.

The case described by us demonstrates the possibility of developing Kaposi’s sarcoma in young people living with HIV, receiving ART and having virological suppression and restored immunity. Given the complexity of differential diagnosis, immunohistochemical study of the biopsy of the neoplasm was of decisive importance.

The joint participation of specialists of the multidisciplinary team contributed to the positive outcome of our patient’s treatment and should be an integral part of management in such cases.
