The aim of the work: to reveal the immediate and long-term results of surgical treatment of diabetic foot syndrome with the quality of life assessment.
Materials and Methods. In the surgical department of St. Catherine's Hospital and ONMedU surgery clinic, 195 patients with DS syndrome were under treatment from 2020 till 2025. There was encountered the predominance of ischemic form – 54 (27.7 %) patients; neuropathic form – 72 (36.9 %) patients; and neuroischemic (mixed) form – 69 (35.4 %) patients pathology by type.
Results. A scheme for choosing the method of surgical intervention in gerontological patients with diabetic angiopathy was based on the level of injury to the main arteries of the lower extremities, the stage of limb ischemia and the severity of concomitant pathology and a method for determining the quality of life for such category of patients. We have proved that as the result of reconstructive operations, the quality of life has increased significantly better than after conservative therapy and amputations. Reducing the level of amputations among patients with diabetic angiopathy and critical ischemia as the result of reconstructive surgery improves the quality of life drastically.
Conclusions. Long-term results of complex treatment of purulent-necrotic complications of VDS become preferable when surgical treatment is implemented using primary tension healing, ischemia compensation; stabilization of polyneuropathy, glycemia and conditions of ulceration are alleviated. Following these conditions affects the quality of specialized surgical and interdisciplinary treatment.
