The influence of cystathionine-y-iyase inhibitor - propargyigiycine and H2S-donor - sodium hydrosuifide ^ (NaHS) on hydrogen sulfide (H2S) contents, and pro-antioxidant system condition in myocardium of rats of three age groups: 1-2 months, 6-8 months, 24-26months were investigated. A two-week insertion of propargyigiycine (50 mg/kg i.p.) caused a significant reduction (by 30-40 %) ofH2S contents, increase of NADPH-oxidase activity, decrease of the activity of superoxide dismutase and thioredoxin reductase in myocardium of oid rats. O Insertion of NaHS (3 mg/kg) caused an increase ofH2S contents and activity of antioxidant enzymes, reduction O of NADPH-oxidase activity and the contents ofiipid and proteins peroxidation products in the myocardium of oid rats. Changes in the H2S contents and indices of pro-antioxidant system induced by insertion of moduiators of H2S metaboiism were iess significant in aduit rats and they were aimostnot registered in rats of 1 -2 months oid. Thus, the roie ofH2S as a moduiator of pro-antioxidant baiance in the myocardium of rats is raised in aging.
