Introduction. Sports nutrition, especially protein supplements, is increasingly used by physically active individuals, yet public perception remains mixed due to myths and low awareness. The aim of the study. To assess attitudes, awareness, consumption practices, and self-reported effects of protein and other supplements among respondents. Research Methods. A sociological survey (Google Forms), descriptive statistics, and comparison with scientific literature were applied. Results and Discussion. Most respondents viewed supplements positively and considered them safe, which aligns with scientific evidence showing that protein and other supplements are safe for healthy individuals when used appropriately. Persistent myths (e.g., protein harms kidneys, causes obesity, or acts as steroids) were not supported by evidence, indicating informational gaps. Many users reported improved strength, muscle mass, endurance and faster recovery–effects described in current sports nutrition research. Side effects were uncommon and mainly related to dietary mistakes (e.g., low fiber intake) or individual intolerance rather than the supplements themselves. Conclusions. The findings indicate predominantly positive attitudes toward protein supplements and perception of safety consistent with scientific data. Many respondents consumed protein and reported improved performance and recovery. Myths about harmful effects remain present but are largely disproven. Rare side effects were functional and diet-related. Overall, protein appears to be an effective and safe dietary addition for physically active individuals when used correctly and combined with balanced nutrition.
