Abstract

Introduction. The basis of t severe course and high mortality rates in acute generalized peritonitis (AGP) is often a concomitant pathology, among which obesity is present in 7.5 % to 14.0 %.

The aim of the study – to investigate the state of indicators of lipid peroxidation and the antioxidant system in the body of experimental animals with simulated AGP on the background of obesity and to compare them with groups of animals with obesity and with animals with AGP.

Research Methods. In the experiment, 24 white Wistar rats were used, which were divided into three groups: the main group – 8 animals with АGP modeling on the background of obesity; comparison group – 8 animals with obesity simulation; another comparison group – 8 animals with АGP modeling; the control group consisted of 8 intact animals. АGP was modeled by injecting 10 % filtered fecal suspension into the abdominal cavity. Obesity was simulated using a high-calorie diet. The content of indicators of prooxidant-antioxidant protection in the blood and liver of animals was determined using the photospectrometric method.

Results and Discussion. It was established that in animals with АGP against the background of obesity, the indicators of lipoperoxidation were significantly activated (by 1.8 times the level of TBА-AP compared to intact animals) and the antioxidant defense was depleted (according to a statistically significantly lower index of superoxide dismutase by 2.4 times compared to the control)) (p<0.05).

Conclusions. In animals with acute generalized peritonitis, the protective mechanisms of antioxidant protection and the activation of lipid peroxidation processes (according to the level of TBA-AP) significantly decrease on the background of obesity, which is confirmed by statistically significantly lower levels of superoxide dismutase compared to animals with isolated obesity or animals with acute generalized peritonitis.
