Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

ARTICLE REQUIREMENTS

1. Article should be written in Ukrainian or English, which publishes the results of original research, and information on major scientific problems and results of scientific work in the field of medicine, biology pharmacy and veterinary medicine.

2. Under the text of the article, it is mandatory to indicate the full name, place of work of each author, as well as the e-mail address of the author with whom we can lead correspondence and negotiations.

3. The electronic version of the article must be registered in the OJS system on the journal's website (http://ojs.tdmu.edu.ua website) and sent to the e-mail address (journal@tdmu.edu.ua or yaroshenko@tdmu.edu.ua, or yaroshenkotya@ukr.net).

4. Article size, including tables, figures, a list of references, summary, should exceed 5 pages, problem article size, literature review, lecture should be more than 12 pages, short message size, review should be within 5 pages.

5. Tables, figures and other illustrations material should be submitted in each individual file. File format for the text and tables – document MS Word (doc, docx or rtf), for figures and other illustrations – jpg, tif, bmp or pdf. For formulas it is recommended to use an equation editor Microsoft Equation. In the captions to the photomicrographs, the magnification and method of staining the material should be indicated. Photos should be contrasting, drawings should be clear. Tables should have short titles and their own numbering. Reproduction of the same material in the form of tables and figures is not allowed.

6. Articles should be written as follows: UDC, initials and names of authors, full name of  the institution (capital letters), title of the work (capital letters), summary in Ukrainian (250–300 words), which must contain the following structural elements as introduction, the aim of the study, research methods, results and discussion, conclusions, key words (up to 8) in Ukrainian, introduction, research methods, results and discussion, conclusions, literature list, references, initials and surnames of the authors in Engish, full name of the institution in English (capital letters), title of the article in English (capital letters), structured summary in English (250–300 words), key words (up to 8) in English. The summaries of review articles should include an introduction, the aim of the study, conclusions, and keywords in the Ukrainian language (up to 8).

7. The text of the article (description of original and experimental studies) should include the following sections:

– articulation of the issue in general aspect and its relationship with important scientific and practical tasks;
– analysis of recent research and publications in which a solution of the problem is started and on which the author bases himself upon; allocation of unsolved before parts of the problem, which is the article is devoted to;
– formulation of the purposes of the article (task assignment);
– the brief description of the research material with full substantiation of the obtained scientific results;
– conclusions of the research and prospects for further studies in this area.

Each of these sections should be highlighted.

8. All designations measures (units of various sizes, digital data of clinical and laboratory research) should be submitted according to the International System of Units (SI) pursuant to the requirements of standards GOST 3651-97 "Units of physical quantities." The names of companies, reagents and drugs should be given in the original transcription.

9. In description of the experimental studies species, sex, number of animals, methods of anesthesia during manipulations associated with causation of pain in the animals, the method of killing should be indicated. Prerequisite is the humane treatment of animals during experiments.

10. In the text when referring to the publication its number according to the list of literature in square brackets should be indicated.

11. It is necessary to send two versions of the list of literature - traditional and additional for foreign databases (references). The first option should be issued in the usual way, according to DSTU GOST 7.1:2006 – as in thesis works. The second option is to form according to the APA standard – American Psychological Association (http://www.citethisforme.com). It completely repeats the first, but translated into English. In the list, all authors of the literary source must be indicated in Latin (DSTU GOST 7.1:2006 does not provide for this). The name of the source (journal, book, conference) should always be highlighted in italics.

Requirements for the additional reference list (REFERENCES)

  1. Structure of bibliographic citation on Cyrillic source:
  • author (s) and initials of the author (s) (transliteration)
  • year of publication in parentheses ();
  • title in English;
  • journal, conference title in English;
  • raw data (place of publication, pages) in English.
  1. Algorithm of completion of the references list:

2.1. If a scientific work is written in language that uses the Cyrillic alphabet, its bibliographic description should be translated in English.

2.2. References list should be edited according to the APA standard:

– take away the special marks in transliterated list (“//”, “/”, “–”);

– title of the source in English;

– correct the indication of the pages (instead of12 s. to 12 p.);

– add in the end [in Ukrainian] or [in Russian];

– if it is a book indicate the full place of edition in English (e.g., Kyiv), transliterate the name of the publishing house.

Internet resource http://www.citethisforme.com/ will help you to prepare a proper list of references required by the APA. After entering metadata in the proposed form the system will generate regular references for your bibliography, which is necessary to copy and paste in your article.
IMPORTANT: Only straight quotes (") are allowed to use in the description elements; replacing Latin letters in Cyrillic is forbidden.

Thesis, abstract of a thesis

Translate the title of the thesis. Certainly specify PhD dissertation, Extended abstract of PhD dissertation, Master’s thesis. Report correct official translation of the name of institution or transliteration of the name.

IMPORTANT: it is better to refer to the full text of the thesis not the abstract.

12. Editors correct spelling, punctuation or stylistic errors, removes unnecessary images, if necessary shorten the text.

13. Articles, prepared without observance of these rules are not registered. First of all we publish the articles of subscribers and materials ordered by the editorial staff.

14. The author is solely responsible for the accuracy of data presented in the article and the references.

15. Publication of the articles is fee-based. Payment is made after reviewing the article (it is necessary to send reviews of two independent experts who are doctors of science in this subject; a sample of the review is provided here).
